Technology continues to make the world a better, faster, and safer place, and fortunately, that kind of progress has touched dentistry as well. Every day, Dr. Clifton Baldwin and our team use state-of-the-art dental technology in Spring, TX to provide our patients with a higher-class of dentistry. With the newest tools, we’re able to treat our patients with more efficiency, precision, and safety. Below, you can learn just a little bit more about some of the tools we use every day.
This tool is one of the most important that we use each day. It is a small camera-tipped wand that enables us to capture high-resolution images of your teeth and gums in real time. They can then be instantly displayed on a large chairside monitor, which is especially helpful for revealing those areas in your mouth that are hidden from the naked eye.
These images allow us to do two great things. Firstly, they make it much easier for Dr. Baldwin and our team to spot the subtle signs of dental problems, which helps us catch issues early and treat them quickly. They also allow our patients to finally see their mouth from their doctor’s perspective. This helps provide essential information about their dental health that they previously wouldn’t have. With this, they are able to make more informed and confident treatment decisions and help take a lot of the uncertainty out of their dental experience.
X-rays have been an essential part of dentistry for many years, but with traditional film-based x-rays, there were always drawbacks. The machine required time to develop images, the process called for very toxic chemicals, and it exposed our patients to radiation. We use this tool every day, and we finally decided that this simply wasn’t good enough for our patients. This is why we have upgraded to only using digital x-rays.
Our new machine is an improvement over the old one in just about every way imaginable. They create images much faster, no chemicals are needed, and they even emit up to 90% less radiation. Plus, since we no longer have to store and dispose of the harsh chemicals, it helps make our dental office much more environmentally friendly as well.
The biggest thing to happen to dentistry in the past few years has been the addition of lasers to the everyday tool kit. With dental lasers, we can perform a wide variety of procedures faster and safer while causing less pain. They’re truly a revolutionary advancement, and you’ll be amazed at how they can help your next appointment simply fly by.
